EDTA Buffer is a pH 8.0 metal ion chelating buffer that serves as a highly  efficient hydrophilic chelating agent. It specifically binds to divalent metal ions  such as Mg²+ , Ca²+ , Mn²+ , and Fe²+ , forming stable inactivated complexes. This  effectively inhibits the activity of metal ion-dependent enzymes (e.g., nucleases  and proteases).
